Located south of Dijon, Gevrey-Chambertin is the first village of the Côte de Nuits. It was by royal decree of Louis Philippe in 1847 that the term Chambertin was associated with Gevrey to officially become Gevrey-Chambertin. The vines are on average over 55 years old and are planted on limestone and stony soil with a little clay. The subsoil is rocky where the roots of the old vines will draw deep the minerals and essential elements that characterize this wine
