Discover Saint-Amour Domaine des Pierres

Nestled in the historic Beaujolais crus, Saint-Amour Domaine des Pierres is a ruby-hued Gamay that perfectly embodies the character of its granite-rich soils. Crafted by generations of winemakers, this elegant red offers a harmonious balance of fruit, minerality, and subtle oak.

Terroir & Winemaking

The vines are planted on steep, well-drained slopes where the unique combination of pink granite and schist forces deep root systems. Hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, the grapes undergo a short, cool maceration to preserve freshness. Fermentation takes place in traditional cement vats, followed by six months of aging on fine lees to enhance texture.

Tasting Notes

  • Color: Bright ruby with violet highlights
  • Aroma: Wild strawberries, red cherries, violet petals, and a hint of spice
  • Palate: Silky tannins, fresh acidity, mineral undertones, and a lingering finish of red fruit compote

Food Pairing & Serving

Serve slightly chilled (14–16 °C) to showcase its lively fruit and minerality. Ideal with:

  • Charcuterie and cured meats
  • Roast chicken or duck breast
  • Soft cheeses such as Brie or Époisses
Saint-Amour Domaine des Pierres

Domaine des Pierres, established in 1964 by Georges Trichard, now comprises 20 hectares and three appellations: Saint Amour, Chénas, and Beaujolais-Villages. The estate is currently managed by his nephew, Jean-François Trichard. The vineyard is located exclusively in the Saône-et-Loire department, in the commune of Saint Amour, on clay-siliceous and granitic soils. The clay layers encase rocky, stony elements (derived from granite and arkose) and schist.
