Vineyard:
Château de Barbe's vineyards stretch across 66 hectares from the hillsides down to the Gironde estuary, a terroir ideally suited to viticulture thanks to its climate. This estate dates back to the 14th century, when vines were already planted here, as evidenced by the archives of the Duvergier family, Marquises of Barbe, who owned the château until 1774. It was subsequently sold and burned during the French Revolution, then rebuilt in 1790, along with the Grand Théâtre of Bordeaux, by the architect Victor Louis. The Savary de Beauregard family owned the château until its acquisition in 1993 by the Richard family. The estate's wines are distinguished by their fruity, full-bodied, and elegant character, and regularly receive awards.
