Chateau Cantemerle |
Vineyard: |
Located in the south of the Médoc peninsula, this 5th Grand Cru Classé from 1855 is one of the oldest estates in the region (the seigneury of Cantemerle dates back to the 12th century). After declining in the 1880s following the phylloxera crisis, it was bought in 1981 by the SMA Group (Mutual Insurance Company for Building and Public Works Companies), which has successfully restored the value of its very special Graves terroir. It has definitely (re)become one of the major vintages of the region, and its wines with their captivating aromatic profile offer masterful precision and generous depth. |

Tasting: |
This wine with a dark garnet color is very open, with notes of blackcurrant and prune. It benefited from a very sunny year and reveals a powerful, complex structure on the palate, but with airy tannins. |
