E. Guigal - Côte-Rôtie Brune and Blonde
Rhône Valley - Côte-Rôtie AOP
Vineyard
Domaine Guigal was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis, a small ancient village and cradle of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. It is home to a unique vineyard, where vines and wine have been celebrated for 2400 years. In 1961, although very young, Marcel Guigal took over the management of the House alongside his father. His son, Philippe, is today the general director and oenologist of the house. He represents the third generation. The estate today consists of 75 hectares of vines.
Winemaking
The harvest is manual with sorting of the grapes, then regular punching down and monitoring of fermentation temperatures. The latter is carried out in closed stainless steel tanks for almost 3 weeks. This wine is aged for 36 months in oak barrels, 50% of which are new.
Tasting
The color is ruby red, dark and deep. On the nose, we discover aromas of small, spicy red fruits. The wine also reveals delicate woody aromas and round, melted tannins. The palate is full and structured with notes of raspberry, blackberry and vanilla.
