Overview
Domaine de Lucie Saint-Amour is a refined expression of Gamay grown in one of Beaujolais’s ten Crus. Nestled on the rolling slopes of Saint-Amour, this elegant red wine captures the freshness and finesse for which the appellation is celebrated. With a bright crimson hue and alluring aromas, it delivers both approachability in its youth and the potential to evolve gracefully over several years.
Tasting Notes
On the nose, expect lifted scents of wild red cherries, raspberries, and violets, underscored by a hint of fresh herbs and crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied yet lively, with silky tannins and a vibrant acidity that frame flavors of sour cherry, red currant, and subtle spice. A chalky minerality gives the finish a refreshing lift, while delicate notes of cinnamon and nutmeg linger long after the last sip.
Winemaking & Terroir
The old-vine Gamay grapes are hand-harvested from granite and schist soils that provide excellent drainage and mineral complexity. Traditional semi-carbonic maceration gently coaxes out pure fruit character, while aging in stainless steel and older French oak barrels preserves freshness and ensures a seamless integration of tannin.
Food Pairing & Serving
Domaine de Lucie Saint-Amour pairs beautifully with charcuterie boards, roasted poultry, grilled salmon, and soft cheeses such as Brie or goat cheese. Serve slightly chilled, between 14–16 °C (57–61 °F), to amplify its bright fruit and vivacious acidity.
Cellaring Potential
Although wonderfully drinkable upon release, this Cru du Beaujolais can be cellared for 5–7 years, during which it will gain complexity, develop savory secondary aromas, and soften into a suppler texture.
