Château Carbonnieux The white Château Carbonnieux is a legendary wine. It is said that in the 18th century it entered the Sultan of Constantinople, thanks to its great clarity, under the name “Carbonnieux Mineral Water”, thus defying Koranic law. The clay-limestone terroirs of Garonne gravel located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation undoubtedly produce the best dry white wines in the Bordeaux region. Young, the Carbonnieux whites charm with their freshness, purity and aromatic intensity that is both fruity and floral. When aged, they develop notes of dried and candied fruits that offer a wide range of gastronomic pairings. The batches that will enter this classified growth will be assembled in such a way as to induce a beautiful complicity between the grape varieties. The selected Sémillons will structure the liveliness of the Sauvignons by providing roundness and volume in the mouth |
Vineyard: |
Founded in the 13th century by the Benedictines of the Abbey of Sainte-Croix, Château Carbonnieux is one of the oldest in Bordeaux. In 1956, Marc Perrin acquired the château, which became a classified growth in 1959 for red and white. Today, Eric and Philibert, his grandsons, have taken over following the immense work of their father Antony. The vineyard is located on a beautiful gravelly hilltop, naturally drained. It now covers 92 hectares in one piece, including 50 hectares dedicated to red grape varieties. |

Tasting: |
This wine with a clear and bright color is fruity, with a liveliness and freshness thanks to the Sauvignon Blanc, and rich thanks to the Sémillon. It reveals aromas of white flowers, citrus fruits (lemon, grapefruit), with a hint of vanilla. Its finish is suave, marked by notes of hawthorn and its freshness. |
