House: E.Guigal Domaine Guigal was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis, a small ancient village and the birthplace of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. It is home to a unique vineyard where vines and wine have been celebrated for 2,400 years. Arriving in 1924 at the age of 14, the founder vinified 67 harvests. In 1961, although very young, Marcel Guigal took over the management of the House alongside his father. He was joined in 1973 by his wife Bernadette and they worked together to develop the family business. 1975 marked the birth of their son Philippe, now the director and oenologist of the house.
